Global sales of clean label food and beverage products are forecast to reach $180 billion by 2020, according to the market research firm Euromonitor. Such sales growth will lead to a significant increase in demand for ingredients minimally processed and perceived as natural. There is also evidence consumers will pay a higher price for products formulated with natural ingredients.

Brands looking to reformulate to simpler ingredients or extend their portfolio with new natural lines are seeking natural ingredient solutions vs. specific simple ingredients in order to solve challenges associated with botanical and fruit-based ingredients; for example, Annatto Microfine™  powder vs. Annatto powder.

A natural color Microfine powder delivers plating characteristics commonly found in synthetic pigments that would evenly and consistently coat a dry product. Whereas, a simple natural color powder would produce a salt and pepper speckling effect in coating a dry product.

Natural ingredients are inherently more complex than synthetics, but advanced technologies and solutions are quickly closing the gap between the two.
