Its ban in 2022 combined with the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries’ demand for more clean-label coloring options, has led to mass reformulation and development of titanium dioxide-free products.
Manufacturers are opting for titanium dioxide-free options despite their status as a supplier to Europe’s food industry. The broad range of applications using titanium dioxide makes a single alternative impossible, given various processing conditions, formulation characteristics and market regulations.
